Azerbaijan to Begin Gas Deliveries To Syria in 2011
By mid-2011, Syria will begin receiving imported Azerbaijani gas, 1news.az
reports. Syrian Oil Minister Sufian al-Allao said pipelines between Turkey
and Syria are currently being linked before Azerbaijani gas begins arriving
in the country.
"From Syria, Azerbaijani gas can be delivered to other Arab countries, and
even to Europe by way of the Mediterranean coast", he said. Al-Allao also
noted interest in transiting Azerbaijani gas and said documents on the
matter have already been signed.
In the initial stages, 1 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas will be
imported to Syria a year.
