Sahar TV logo An official in the Azerbaijani Presidential
Administration has accused Iran's Sahar TV of trying to foment unrest
    in Azerbaijan.

"The Iranian Sahar TV channel is trying to worsen the sociopolitical
situation in Azerbaijan. The activity of the TV channel promotes the
falsification of processes going on in our country," Ali Hasanov, head
of the public policy department at the Presidential Administration,
    told reporters on Monday.

He was commenting on protests outside the Azerbaijani consulate in
Tabriz that followed Sahar TV's broadcast of a video sequence linking
the Azerbaijani president, Israeli officials and victims of Israel's
    shelling of Gaza..

Hasanov said that in such instances Azerbaijan, as an independent
state, sends complaints to the relevant instances in Iran to protect
    its interests.

Hasanov said that Iran was Azerbaijan's closest neighbour and the
creation of good relations with this country was a foreign policy
    priority for Baku.

He said that some powers might be interested in raising tensions
between the two countries. "Azerbaijan is against such attempts and
will take actions to prevent them," Hasanov said.

Sahar TV is part of IRIB, Iran's national broadcasting corporation. It
is targeted at a foreign audience and broadcasts to Azerbaijan in
    Azerbaijani.
