MIGUEL ANGEL MORATINOS: A SOLUTION TO KARABAKH CAN BE FOUND ONLY IN A PEACEFUL, DIPLOMATIC WAY

President Serzh Sargsyan today received the delegation headed by
Miguel Angel Moratinos, the Foreign Minister of Spain, the country
that hold EU chairmanship.
Congratulating the Spanish Foreign Minister on assuming EU chairmanship
and the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, Serzh Sargsyan highly
appreciated the current level of the Armenia-EU cooperation and the
political dialogue.
"This visit is an evidence of the European Union's strategic view of
deepening the relations with Armenia," Miguel Angel Moratinos noted.
The Spanish Foreign Minister expressed confidence that the high-level
reciprocal visits open a new page in the Armenia-EU relations and
provide an opportunity to exchange views on the perspectives of the
common future. "Today we have an intensive agenda of cooperation,
and Spain is ready to contribute to the further deepening of relations
throughout its presidency," Minister Moratinos noted.
During the meeting the interlocutors touched upon the process of
normalization of the Armenia-Turkey relations, regional security
issues and the process of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict. President Sargsyan presented Armenia's position on the
issues discussed.
Miguel Angel Moratinos expressed confidence that the use of force
or the threat of use of force is not a way for resolution of the
Karabakh conflict. "A solution to the issue can be found only through
a peaceful, diplomatic way," the Foreign Minister of Spain stated.
