Baku. Viktoria Dementyeva - APA. During the meeting between Azerbaijani
FM Elmar Mammedyarov and EU President, Foreign Minister of Spain Miguel
Angel Moratinos discussed were Nagorno Karabakh conflict, security,
as well as energy security issues in Eastern Partnership project,
Elmar Mammedyarov told during the press conference on the outcomes
of the meeting between his Spanish counterpart Miguel Angel Moratinos.
Miguel Angel Moratinos also noted his meetings with President Ilham
Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar mammedyarov to be beneficial and
productive. During his meetings Spanish FM held discussions on energy
issues, as well as Nabucco project. He said it was his second visit
to Azerbaijan, while for the first time he visited this country as
the OSCE chairman. "This visit may be an EU signal on Caucasus and
especially on Azerbaijan. Current visit clearly shows EU's interest
on Azerbaijan", Spanish FM said. He also pointed out EU's effective
cooperation with Azerbaijan in energy field.
Touching the solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict Spanish FM said
he backed the OSCE Minsk Group's activity: "Some people are calling
Nagorno Karabakh conflict "frozen" or "prolonged". But I would like
to call this conflict "solved" one." I hope if the two sides show
constructiveness the conflict will find its solution soon.
This conflict has been long enough prolonged. Concluding my visits to
both Azerbaijan and Armenia I can say if the possible opportunities
are used the problem will be solved.
Obviously, in its turn as a new Europe we are willing to achieve
solution of the conflict using all the diplomatic influence of Europe.
Moreover, I would like to note that the Eastern Partnership program
can only help to solve this conflict as the both sides are involved
in this program.
