Armenian opposition members demanded early presidential and
parliamentary elections at a rally held in Yerevan on Monday to mark
the second anniversary of mass riots following the 2008 presidential
poll, when ten people were killed in clashes between police and
protesters.
"We demand that early presidential and parliamentary elections be
held over the period between June and September. We also demand that
reforms be implemented in Armenia's electoral system over the period
until May," Armenian National Congress coordinator Levon Zurabyan
said at the rally.
Zurabyan also called on the authorities to free all political
prisoners.
