Turkish Jews say Armenian genocide resolution to damage Turkey-USA ties
Istanbul, 2 March: Istanbul's Turkish-Jewish Community said, "If
members of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign
Affairs accept the resolution about the events of 1915, they will
damage Turkey-USA relations. They do not make any contribution to
Turkey-Armenia relations."
The community said in a statement, "According to our view, only
historians can resolve historical events. If the resolution is
accepted, it will damage Turkey-USA relations. The resolution will not
make any contribution to efforts to normalize Turkey-Armenia
relations."
The US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs will vote
the resolution recognizing the events of 1915 as "genocide" on 4 March
2010.
