Recognition of imaginary "Armenian genocide" by the Swedish Parliament
will make a severe blow to the economy, Johns Hopkins University,
Institute of Central Asia and Caucasus director, Svante Cornell said.
Recognition of the "Armenian genocide" will strike the economy of
Sweden, " Cornell told Trend News over phone from Sweden.
The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted
the resolution recognizing the so-called "Armenian genocide" by 23
votes in favor and 22 against at a meeting on March 4. The Committee
on Foreign Relations of the Swedish Parliament recognized the so-called
"Armenian genocide" March 11.
As a sign of prices against the recognition of Armenian genocide
by the Parliament of Sweden and the U.S. Congress, official Ankara
recalled its envoys from these countries.
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, expressing his attitude to
the issue, said that the recognition of "Armenian genocide" will
be a serious blow to the actions towards the normalization of
Turkish-Armenian relations.

in the Swedish Parliament was the result of the efforts of the
opposition. It is unknown whether the government will support it.
