BORIS BEREZOVSKY: KREMLIN TO WHIP UP EMOTIONS BETWEEN AZERBAIJAN AND ARMENIA AT MOST

complicated in order to divide and rule. Of course, this fully concerns
Russia's attitude to Azerbaijan as well, a Russian businessman Boris
Berezovsky, who is currently living in London, said in an interview
with the Azerbaijani service of Radio Liberty.
According to him, his viewpoint is based not only on abstract
reasoning, since being CIS Executive Secretary, he has multiply met
the deceased Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev and ex-President
of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. "I tried to do my best to find peaceful
solution of the Karabakh problem. That time, I saw great resistance
in the power and military structures of Russia to such a peaceful,
mutually beneficial solution of this difficult issue", Berezovsky
said. The Russian businessman emphasized that Armenia and Azerbaijan
should not look to Moscow to help solve the Nagorno- Karabakh
conflict. "Russia will always impede efforts to resolve the conflict.
Russia's current leaders are neither experienced nor adequately
educated. He said their primary interest is to exploit the Karabakh
conflict to make money", Berezovsky said.
He thinks the Kremlin will whip up emotions between Azerbaijan and
Armenia at most and capitalize the conflict in its favour, moreover,
the interests of neither Azerbaijan nor Armenia are of its concern.
According to him being CIS Executive Secretary, he was engaged in
Karabakh problem and felt that both Heydar Aliyev and Robert Kocharyan
had a desire and will to find peaceful solution to the conflict.
Berezovsky emphasized that solution is undoubtedly in compromises. "I
can give just one advice, though it may sound strangely, - not to
attract mediators and talk directly to each other. I think this is
just the prerequisite for resolution of this difficult situation",
