AAEF Gains Strong Political Support from RA for Vocation Education Projects
3.1.2010: Yerevan, Armenia The Executive Board of the AAEF recently
completed a highly productive trip to Armenia in which they met with
and gained support from key political officials in the Republic of
Armenia for their efforts in improving Vocational High School
education in Armenia. Through their meetings with RA Minister of
Diaspora Ms. Hranush Hakobyan, RA Minister of Education Mr. Armen
Ashotyan, AAEF was able to not only earn the full support and high
commendable remarks from both Ministers but also gained their
participation in AAEF's programs. "I am very excited about the
discussions we have had and with the partnerships we have created for
our educational projects during the past couple weeks - 2010 is sure
to be a great year for AAEF and the youth of Armenia."
AAEF has successfully organized, funded and implemented vocational
training programs in the fields of Public Food Preparation, Sewing &
Textile Design, Cosmotology, Computer Programming, Carpentry and
Glassmaking, with plans to implement Building Construction programs
before the end of this year. These programs are currently available.
AAEF has developed a reputation as participatory organization -
actually taking part in all of its projects through training,
construction or representation. To help structure this approach, AAEF
has requested that the Mr. Ashotyan assist with appointing an AAEF
member to the board of each College/VHS in which they have
involvement. The Ministry has pledged full support and is currently
reviewing candidates to prepare a list of nominees.
In line with their goal of providing "High Quality - Labor Market
Demanded vocational education for the youth of Armenia," the Executive
Board developed the framework "Student and Teacher Evaluation System"
which will assess, evaluate, recognize and reward best students and
teachers annually. Ms. Hakobyan not only pledged her full support
but also volunteered to serve on the Evaluation Committee.
