Baku. Lachin Sultanova - APA. Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
Kirill, who is visiting Armenia, presented the letter of invitation
to the interreligious summit in Baku written by chairman of Caucasian
Muslims Office, sheikh-ul-islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh to Catholicos of
All Armenians Garegin II, APA reports quoting Novosti-Armenia agency.
"On behalf of my friend Allahshukur Pashazadeh and on my behalf I
invite you to the conference that will be held in Baku by the CIS
Interreligious Council," Patriarch said.
Kirill said participation in the event will make it available to
express view on important issues. He mentioned that both Armenian
Christians and Azerbaijani Muslims are represented in the CIS
Interreligious Council and the first interreligious summit was held
in Moscow some years ago.
Patriarch said he attached great importance to the peacekeeping
efforts of the churches. Kirill said Armenian apostolic church and
Russian Orthodox church actively participate in the settlement of
Nagorno Karabakh conflict and though it is difficult for Armenian and
Azerbaijan religious leaders to meet, they realized it several times.
