    TIGRAN SARGSYAN: THERE ARE FAVORABLE PREREQUISITES FOR DEEPENING ARMENIAN-SLOVAK COOPERATION

    YEREVAN, MARCH 18, NOYAN TAPAN. The current level of cooperation
    between Armenia and Slovakia creates favorable prerequisites for
    deepening it, Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan stated,
    when receiving Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak on March 18.

    The interlocutors discussed the opportunities of expanding bilateral
    cooperation within the framework of Eastern Partnership project. T.

    Sargsyan expressed a high opinion about Slovakia's active participation
    in that project. M. Lajcak said that Slovak experience may be useful to
    Armenia. According to him, this year the Slovak Republic will assume
    the chairmanship of the Vishegrad Four (V4), and it is envisaged
    organizing a meeting with the participation of member states of this
    group and the Eastern Partnership project.

    According to the RA Government Information and PR Department, the
    sides considered it important that the potential for development
    of economic ties be used to the full. In the words of the Slovak
    foreign minister, he is accompanied by a delegation of businessmen
    and investors who examine the opportunities of making investments in
    Armenia. In this connection, special importance was attached to the
    first Armenian-Slovak business forum held in Yerevan on the same day.

    The sides expressed a hope that it will encourage investments and
    help businessmen of the two countries to establish closer relations. T.

    Sargsyan said he had instructed the Armenian Development Agency to
    prepare a project on investment encouragement. Priority was given to
    the expansion of bilateral cooperation in energy, chemical industry,
    agriculture, and environmental protection.

    The sides stressed the necessity to expand and improve the legal and
    contractual field between Armenia and Slovakia.

    At the guest's request, the prime minister spoke about the anti-crisis
    measures taken by the Armenian government.

    The interlocutors also discussed regional problems.
