"Horrible atrocities took place; however, I don't know whether they
should be called genocide or not. I don't like history and for that
reason, I haven't really delved [into the issue]," said Turkey's
Liberal Democratic Party leader Cem Toker at a press conference today,
when asked whether he accepts that a genocide took place in 1915.

The Turkish politician noted that Armenian historians told him that
it was genocide, while Turkish historians have said that atrocities
took place, but it wasn't genocide.

"I can't say which side is right, but I understand that, in your
country, that's a deep national trauma. I understand and I can
    appreciate that," he said.

Toker said that he has visited Armenia 5 times, during which time he
was convinced that every Armenian family has its history connected
    with those atrocities.

The party leader added that he more so focuses on positive
developments, since even God can't change what has already taken
place. He also said that he visited the Genocide Memorial in Armenia.
