Chairman of National Assembly's Standing Committee on Social Affairs,
Republican Hakob Hakobyan today responded to ex Foreign Minister
    Vartan Oskanian's interview to www.a1plus.am

"Vardan Oskanian's interview contradicts his speeches and statements
made over the past ten years, when he was the country's foreign
minister. I think Mr. Oskanian must be concerned over the thoughts
expressed in the interview. In particular, Mr. Oskanian rules out the
adoption of the document laid on the negotiation table today. But the
document was put under consideration long ago. It was agreed upon in
the results of negotiations attended by Vartan Oskanian and of the
document carries unacceptable provisions, the responsibility lies on
    Oskanian," says the Republican MP.

Mr. Hakobyan found other contradictions in Osknayan's interview
    as well.

"Mr. Oskanian says he has nothing to suggest to Armenian authorities at
the moment. Minutes later he forgets his words and suggests terminating
the talks. If the former FM thinks the stoppage of negotiations will
produce tangible effects why did he participate in the talks for 10
years? Why did Oskanian participate in the elaboration of the Madrid
Principles which he considers unacceptable today?"

Hakob Hakobyan was especially offended by Oskanian's words: "It is
better to be an ordinary citizen in a normal country than an authority
    in this country."

"Oskanian makes an impression of a not serous person. The country
cannot have changed so much in a year for him to prefer the status
    of an ordinary citizen.

If he wishes to be an ordinary citizen without bearing responsibility
for previous mistakes, nothing hinders him. Oskanian seems to have
transferred to the field of demagogy: he thinks that if forgets his
past there will be no one to remind him of it," added Mr. Hakobyan.
