President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Turkey Jem Toker is in
Armenia to break the stereotypes and eliminate the misunderstanding
between the two peoples.
During today's meeting with reporters Jem Toker criticized Turkish
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement on deportation
of 100 00 Armenians from Turkey. "It's an unacceptable statement,
and if the government ever tries to impalement a policy like that,
the Turkish people will react very harshly. It was a racist remark."
Touching upon the possibility of the passage of the Armenian Genocide
bill in the US Congress, the Turkish politician said he does not
believe US Congress will ratify the bill this year because there
are certain political and geopolitical realities. "At this point it
doesn't serve for the good of the normalization process," he added.
Asked whether the Turkish Parliament will ratify the Armenian-Turkish
protocols by April 24, Jem Toker said "it's unlikely."
