PRESIDENT SARGSYAN VISITS SYRIA

At the invitation of the President of the Arab Republic of Syria,
Bashar Al-Assad, the President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh
Sargsyan and his spouse Mrs. Rita Sargsyan arrived in Syria for a
three-day official visit.
Following the official welcome ceremony the Presidents of the two
countries had a face-to-face meeting. Greeting the Armenian President,
Bashar al-Assad expressed confidence that the high-level visits would
contribute to the deepening of the existing ties between Armenia
and Syria. The Presidents hailed the current level of the political
dialogue between the two countries.
President Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to his Syrian counterpart
for the invaluable assistance rendered to our people at a hard historic
moment, adding that the Syrian Armenian community serves as a reliable
bridge of friendship between the two peoples and states.
Serzh Sargsyan and Bashar Al-Assad attached importance to the
intensification of business contacts, which would allow increasing
the volume of commodity turnover between the two friendly countries.
At the end of the meeting the Presidents of Armenia and Syria gave
a joint press conference.
