INVESTMENTS IN WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM TO REACH SOME $ 20 MILLION IN 2010

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Investments in water supply system will reach some
20 million USD in 2010, Patrick Lorin, General Director of Armenian
Water Sewerage Company (AWSC) told reporters during a joint visit with
Ahmed Eiweida,World Bank regional infrastructures projects coordinator,
to the city of Charentsavan (Kotayk region).
According to him, in the city of Charentsavan, thanks to the
reconstruction, daily water supply increased from 6 to 20.3 hours. "e
have improved the quality of water by chlorination, before the
reconstruction of the system, it was not chlorinated," he said. He
said the company plans to install more energy efficient pumps.
In turn Ahmed Eiweida added that Charentsavan is one of eight cities
where the World Bank invests its funds under this program. According
to him soon in Hrazdan a very large program will be launched
and water-pumping station and 120 km of water networks wll be
reconstructed.
The World Bank-supported Municipal Water and Wastewater Project will
be completed in December of 2011. It embraces 300 communities. The
total budget of the project is 43 million USD.
