LOS ANGELES ' Robbery-Homicide detectives were searching today for the
person who shot and killed a 38-year-old Hollywood woman, whose
slaying was believed to be related to a 2008 double homicide,
authorities said.
Karine Hakobyan's body was found by Los Angeles police in the driver's
seat of her CRV about 8:20 p.m. Friday. The vehicle was parked on the
5800 block of Lexington Avenue in Hollywood, according to police.
The Honda was parked in a fenced, gated area, a news crew at the scene
reported.
LAPD Hollywood homicide detectives said that Hakobyan's slaying was
believed to be related to the deaths of Khachik Safaryan, a
43-year-old Armenian man, and his 8-year-old daughter Lusine. They
were found shot to death in their home on the 1200 block of Tamarind
Avenue by Safaryan's 15-year-old daughter when she returned from
school on Dec. 11, 2008.
The slayings of Safaryan and his daughter remain unsolved.
A $75,000 reward was offered in February 2009 for information leading
to the arrest of the person or persons who killed them.
A motive for Hakobyan's killing was unknown.
No suspect information was available.
