On 28 March, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) President Bako Sahakyan
met OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Robert Bradtke (US), Yuri Merzlyakov
(Russia), and Bernard Fassier (France), as well as the officials
accompanying them, reports the NKR President's central information
department.
Issues related to the current stage and prospects of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement were discussed during the meeting.
Sahakyan once again stressed that without NKR's full participation
it would be impossible to reach a final and comprehensive settlement
of the conflict.
Sahakyan noted that Azerbaijan's unconstructive, militaristic
approaches and its denial of mutual confidence initiatives are the
main obstacles to settling the conflict. The NKR president once again
underlined that NKR's independence and security are not subject to
any speculations and any attempt to bring back the past are full of
unpredictable consequences.
Sahakyan reiterated NKR's adherence to a peaceful settlement of the
conflict within the framework of the Minsk Group. The co-chairs also
underlined that any solution of the conflict through military means
is absolutely unacceptable.
Touching upon Armenian-Turkish relations, the NKR president noted
that this process does not have any relation to the settlement of
the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and attempts to tie these processes
together cast a negative impact on both processes.
Issues related to the situation along the line of contact were also
discussed at the meeting.
NKR foreign minister Georgy Petrosyan and Personal Representative
of the OSCE Chair-in-Office, Andrzej Kasprzyk were also present at
the talks.
