ARMENIAN COMMUNITY OF ISTANBUL TO LAUNCH WEBSITE ENTITLED "WE LIVE IN A DIFFERENT TURKEY"

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Turkish media reports that the meeting of Turkish
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and chairman of the Armenian
community Petros Sirinoglu sparked protests among the Armenian
community of Istanbul, is true, Turkologist Ruben Melkonyan told
    PanARMENIAN.Net.

According to him, the Armenian community of Istanbul has not a leader.

"Perhaps, the expectations of the Turkish government were fulfilled
and they received from a representative of the Armenian community
all the statements they wanted to hear," Mr. Melkonyan said, adding
that the position of the Armenian community does not coincide with
    the position Mr. Sirinoglu.

According to him, as a sign of protest the Armenian community of
Istanbul intends to launch a site entitled "We live in a different
Turkey," because that Turkey, Sirinoglu was speaking about, differs
a great deal from the Turkey they live in.

According to Ruben Melkonyan, the family of the editor-in-chief of
"Agos" news paper Hrant Dink, killed on January 19, 2007 also joined
    the action.

"he Armenian community of Istanbul demanded Sirinoglu not speak with
any statements on behalf of the community, since the community does
not recognize him as a representative,"Ruben Melkonyan said.

In Ruben Melkonyan' opinion, the reaction of the Armenian community
to the statement of Petros Sirinoglu is a sign of "healing".

Earlier, Turkish media reported that the prime minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan on March 26 met with the leader of the Armenian community
    Petros Sirinoglu.

"The events of 1915 have become a bone of contention between true
friends and partners, treating each other with a great love.

Unfortunately, this conflict ended badly, suspicion arose between
them. The conflict arose 100 years ago, it should be forgotten and
looked ahead," Sirinoglu said, TRT reported. He said "the Armenian
presidents sticks to the same view".
