The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not received any official
proposal from Azerbaijan over Turkey's co-chairmanship in the OSCE
Minsk Group, Spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Andrei Nesterenko said, according to RIA Novosti.
"As an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair, Russia didn't receive any such
proposal. In any case, an agreement of the conflict parties is needed
to make the issue practical. We can hardly expect such agreement,
taking into consideration the suspension of the ratification of
Armenia-Turkey normalization protocols," Nesterenko told a briefing in
Moscow.
Russia has nothing against the Iranian proposal to hold a trilateral
meeting of Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Iran on the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Andrei Nesterenko said.
"We have nothing against this meeting. If such a meeting takes place,
obviously, it is necessary to wait for its results and then talk about
the possibility of Iran's mediation in the Nagorno-Karabakh
settlement," Nesterenko said commenting on the Iranian proposal to
mediate in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.
