China's largest city Shanghai hosts international exhibition of
"Expo-2010", which official opening ceremony will be launched at 17:00
Yerevan time. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attends the official
opening by the invitation of China's President. Panorama'am's reporter
arrived in Shanghai to report the freshest information from there.
Earlier Armenian pavilion was officially opened and President Sargsyan
attended the opening ceremony of the pavilion.
It's worth reminding that international "Expo" exhibitions are
organized once in five years. Those exhibitions re great events
from the economic, scientific-technical and cultural view points,
since they are perfect arenas to present not only country's history
and culture, but its innovative ideas and investments.
To get the license for holding "Expo-2010" China had to compete with
Russia, North Korea, Poland and Mexico.
In fact Chinese Shanghai may have competed his rivals for having
recorded enormous achievements in urban-planning in recent 20 years.
Armenia attends the "Expo" third times, in "Expo 2000" in Hanover,
Germany and "Expo 2005" Aichi, Japan.
"Shanghai-Expo 2010" international exhibition will last sic months,
started on May 1, it's to last up to October 31. The exhibition holds
"Prosperous city, prosperous life" name. The organizers say the
theme is to continue the 154-year-old tradition of the international
exhibition.
It's common knowledge that the themes of different "expo" exhibitions
express the interests of people living within that historic period.
Hence, the standard of living is a very fragile issue discussed by
political leaders both in the national governments and in the world.
Demographic statistical studies say 55% of people are going to live
in cities.
Cities are seriously engaged to meet the challenge, since traffic jams,
air and environmental pollution, social and cultural conflicts may be
deeply threatening. The mission of "Shanghai expo 2010" is to provide
arena for those visions to meet that threat.
192 countries and 50 international organizations attend the
exhibition. The organizers expect to host about 100 million visitors.
If their provisions turn to be right, "Expo2010" will be the most
attended expo.
