Medical University 'During our recent visit to Azerbaijan we concerned
ourselves with the problems of the Iranians studying there.
We are not satisfied with the state of the Iranians studying medicine
in Azerbaijan,' Iran's Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Mahammadali
Mohaggigi said, reports Mehr.
He said while visiting Azerbaijan in February Health Minister of Iran
Marziya Vahid Destcerdi met with the Iranian students, concerned
herself with their condition and it appeared that they had enough
problems.
According to Deputy Minister, as they are not satisfied with the level
of education of the Iranian students in Azerbaijan, they consider
the diplomas of Azerbaijan Medical University invalid.
'The names of all Azerbaijani educational institutions have been
removed from the list of the Health Ministry of Iran,' he said.
Mohaggigi said no one was sent from Iran to study medicine in
Azerbaijan, the process had been stopped.
Deputy Minister also expressed the ministry's concern over the demand
from the Iranian female students to take off the veil while having
their photos taken.
Mohaggi said that they were very worried about this situation and that
they would take appropriate measures for the solution to educational
problems of Iranian students.
'We will convey our students studied abroad to the country according
to the educational laws'. Head of teaching department of Azerbaijan
Medical University Nasimi Gasimov said that there are Iranian students
studying at our university.
'As a rule, Iranian students confirm their diplomas after returning.
According to non-official information, Iran sends a lot of students
to Armenia and without any problem on attendance recognize their
diplomas. But most of the Iranian students studying in Azerbaijan
don't return after education and leave for European countries. We
know that their diplomas are being recognized in Finland, Germany
and Switzerland. And most of the students can accept their diplomas
as valid after returning to Iran'.
Gasimov noted that formerly Iranian students studying in Azerbaijan
weren't admitted to examinations for accepting their diplomas as valid:
'But then Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan and adviser of the embassy
visited our university many times, and then Iranian students were
admitted to examination there. Iranian students study better than any
other foreign students at Medical University. Lately, there have been
opened many medical faculties in Iran. May be, that is why, Iran has
spread such information. But on the other hand, most of the Iranian
students studying at Azerbaijan Medical University are Azerbaijanis.
They open eyes of Azerbaijanis living in Iran after returning. And
that is why Iran's such statement is political maneuver and blackmail'.
