ARMENIA MAY BECOME TOURIST MECCA: RUSSIAN OFFICIAL

Armenia may become a tourist Mecca, Viktor Krivopuskov, head of
Rossotrudnichestvo (Russian Cooperation) representation in Armenia
and an aide to the Russian embassy in Yerevan, said today.
'Modern people should know where the human civilization began- it
is Noah's Ark, Ararat Mount, the Hellenic culture and monuments of
spiritual culture that have had a strong impact on development of
Orthodoxy in the world,' he said at a news conference today.
According to government data, the number of foreign tourists visiting
Armenia in the first quarter of the year increased by 9.4% year-on-year
to 92.55.
The number of Armenians traveling abroad as tourists grew by 7.1%
to 90,950 people.
