ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF YOUNG WRITERS OPENS IN TSAKHKADZOR

    ARMENPRESS
    MAY 14, 2010
    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, MAY 14, ARMENPRESS: The annual conference of young writers
opened today in Tsakhkadzor. Over 40 young writers from Yerevan and
the provinces of Armenia took part in it. Arkmenik Nikoghosyan, head
of the youth department of RA Writers Union, told Armenpress that
Tsakhkadzor's consultations of young writers are the most intensive
project organized by RA Writers Union every year.

'I am not satisfied with the quality of works, implemented within
the period of a year, as I do not see the phenomenon of organized
meetings and the diversity of readership, which, in turn, reflects
on the quality of literary creations,' Arkmenik Nikoghosyan said. He
added that only after discussing the literary harvest, one can make
clear whether everything is normal in literature or not.

According to Arkmenik Nikoghosyan, the calculations showed that over
50 prosaic and 50 poetic creations were published within the period
of a year. 'Actually, there is some literature, which can be analyzed
and criticized. It should be mentioned that the year was significant
with an abundance of published books,' the critic said. He says one of
the shortcomings of the previous year was that the Armenian literature
lacked for a brand new, fresh name.

'Last year we heard some unexpected names, however this year we can
state there is no any new name, yet there has appeared a new critic,'
Arkmenik Nikoghosyan said. He stated that the young writers do not
have problems with publishing, as their creations are being published
in press all the year round.

The annual conference of young writers lasts 3 days.
