YEREVAN HOSTS INTERNATIONAL COMICS FESTIVAL OPENING

On May 14, Yerevan hosted ceremonial opening of the 2nd International
Comics Festival, organized by ApbdA French company under the aegis
of RA Ministry of Culture.
Among others, International Comics Association Ambassador Barbara
Canepa and Angouleme Comics High School board member Dominique Bertail
were invited to participate.
In their greeting speech, ApbdA chairman Jean Mardikian and RA Culture
Minister Hasmik Poghosyan gave high assessment to Armenia's increased
interest to the art of comics, expressing hope for further expansion
of the initiative.
Italian artist Paolo Cossi's works, drawing on Armenian Genocide,
became one of festival highlights. "I chose comics as an accessible
method of expression to raise Genocide awareness worldwide," the
artist emphasized.
Special master classes, seminars and contests will be held within
festival framework.
