MUCH-ANTICIPATED LITURGY IN SURB KHACH WILL BE OFFERED IN SEPTEMBER 19

A liturgy service planned to be held on September 12 in the Armenian
church Surb Khach (Saint Cross) located on Akhtamar Island in Lake Van,
Eastern Turkey, will be delayed for a week until September 19.
As already reported by Tert.am the reason is the referendum to be
held in Turkey on the same day.
According to Turkish Milliyet newspaper the statement released
by the Van Administration mentioned that the Governor of the Van
administration Myunil Karaloghlu had had a phone conversation with
Aram Archbishop Ateshyan, Head of the Religious Council of the Armenian
Patriarchate, and suggested to shift the date of the liturgy ceremony
on September 19.
Ateshyan gave his consent to the Karaloglu's suggestion.
