YEREVAN, MAY 18, ARMENPRESS: Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
received today Chairman of the Belarus National Academy of Sciences
Mikhail Myasnikovich.
Presidential press office told Armenpress that May 17 a cooperation
agreement has been signed between Armenian and Belarusian academies.
Welcoming the guest, Serzh Sargsyan said that the Armenian-Belarusian
scientific ties have serious history. "We all remember the successful
cooperation between the academies of the two countries during the
Soviet years as well. After the collapse of the USSR, unfortunately
these ties interrupted, but I hope that we are registering new start
of the cooperation," the leader of the country said.
Chairman of the Belarus National Academy of Sciences noted that there
is a warm attitude toward Armenia and Armenian people in his country.
"Our two peoples have also similarities - we create everything by our
own intellect, own strength and thanks to hard work," the Belarusian
scientist said.
The parties exchanged thoughts over the prospects of development of
science in the two countries. The heads of the Armenian and Belarusian
academies noted that the signed document creates new opportunities
for the scientific circles of the two countries.
