On the joint press conference with the Argentinean FM Jorje Tayana
the Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian by the request of the journalists
touched upon the 2216 report of the Europen Parliament on the South
Caucasus, where are some theses also referring the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict. In the report particularly is written that Karabakh should
get an intermediate status and the Armenian Armed Forces should
withdraw "from the occupied regions".
"First of all I would like to express our respect towards the European
Parliament. But the theses that are present in the report referring
to the Karabakh issue do not correspond neither the Madrid principles
nor the l'Acuila statements and the Moscow declaration about which
is mentioned in the mentioned report. It is obviously a chaos of
formulations and I suppose one of the reasons is that the one who
has written the report has never been in Karabakh and has not even
have consultations with the members of the Eurpoean Union and the OSCE
Minsk Group while writing the report. And this is the reason that some
theses contradict also the position of the European Union which has
been stated for many times. And the disposition of the European Union
was expressed in December 2009 in Athens in a rather large statement
and completely corresponds to the Armenian disposition too," E.
Nalbandian stated.
