RA PRESIDENT RECEIVES ARGENTINE FOREIGN MINISTER JORGE TAIANA

RA President Serzh Sargsyan received today Argentine Minister of
Foreign Affairs and International Trade and Worship Jorge Taiana,
who is on a visit to Armenia on the occasion of the opening of the
Argentine Embassy to Armenia. The Presidential press service told
Armenpress that RA President Serzh Sargsyan congratulated Mr. Taiana
on the 200th anniversary of the Independence of Argentina and on the
opening of the Argentine Embassy to Armenia as well.
The President expressed his satisfaction about the current level of
Argentine-Armenian relations and mentioned that the possibilities of
deepening those relations should be used quite efficiently. Jorge
Taiana said that deepening of the relations with Armenia is quite
important to his country and added that the fact Armenia is the
first South-Caucasian state, in which Argentina opens it embassy,
is the proof of his statement. The two sides discussed issues on
continuing Argentine-Armenian active political dialogues in all the
levels, on promoting the economic cooperation and making contacts in
the spheres of culture and sports more active.
Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana said Argentina is ready to assist
Armenia in the implementation of economic development projects,
especially in the investment of modern technologies in agriculture.
Mr. Serzh Sargsyan expressed his gratitude to the Argentine Government
for the attitude toward the Armenian community to Argentina. The
speakers mentioned that the Armenian- Argentine community a link,
which connects the two states. The two sides also touched upon the
issue of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and
the process of the settlement of the NK issue.
Jorge Taiana said the position of Argentina about the Armenian
Genocide is quite clear: the fact of the Armenian Genocide is beyond
any doubt. Jorge Taiana also touched upon the warlike statements of
Azerbaijan and mentioned that those statements do not promote the
peaceful settlement of the NK issue.
