    PRELATE TO CELEBRATE DIVINE LITURGY AT THE
    LAS VEGAS PARISH AND INAUGURATE THE HALL OF THE NEW CULTURAL CENTER

    On Sunday, May 23rd, 2010, Pentecost, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh
    Mardirossian, Prelate, will celebrate Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon
    at the Las Vegas parish. Very Rev. Fr. Barthev Gulumian will assist at the
    altar.
    Prior to the service, the Prelate will inaugurate and bless the hall
    of the new cultural center, which will serve as the sanctuary until the
    construction of St. Garabed Church.
    The Honorable Grigor Hovhannisyan, Consul General of Armenian, and
    Dr. Garo Agopian, Chairman of the Executive Council, will also participate
    in the inauguration and Divine Liturgy.
    The church is located at 2054 E. Desert Inn.
    The parish council has organized a reception in honor of the Prelate
    and Consul General, which will take place at the Las Vegas National Golf
    Club following services.
    And on Saturday, May 22nd, the Prelate, Consul General, and Dr.
    Agopian will attend the Hamazkayin "Ani" Dance Group performance at UNLV.


    38TH PRELACY REPRESENTATIVES ASSEMBLY ELECTS NEW RELIGIOUS AND EXECUTIVE
    COUNCILS

    The 38th Prelacy Representatives Assembly convened on Friday, May
    14th, 2010, at the "Dikran and Zarouhie Der Ghazarian" Hall, presided over
    by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and with the
    participation of clergy members, Central Executive Council member Mr. Khajag
    Dikijian, Religious and Executive Council members, Board of Regents members,
    principals and directors, and parishes' representatives.
    During the two day assembly, the endeavors of the Prelate and the
    Religious and Executive Councils were evaluated and activities for the
    forthcoming year were proposed and drafted. The election of the Religious
    and Executive Councils also took place, as follows.

    PRELATE TO CONVEY HIS MESSAGE AT THE 3RD ANNUAL DAVIDIAN & MARIAMIAN
    EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION TELETHON

    The third annual Davidian & Mariamian Educational Foundation
    Telethon will air on Sunday, May 23rd, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Telethon
    will be broadcast on Charter Communications Horizon TV Channel 285, AABC TV
    Channel 284, and High Vision TV Channel 281.
    The Prelate will convey his blessings and message on this occasion.
    The Executive Council's remarks will be delivered by representative Mr.
    Meher Der Ohanessian.


    VAHAN & ANOUSH CHAMLIAN GRADUATING CLASS
    VISITS THE PRELACY

    On Wednesday, May 19th, 2010, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian,
    Prelate, welcomed to the Prelacy the graduating class of Vahan and Anoush
    Chamlian School. The more than 50 students were accompanied by Principal
    Mr. Vazken Madenlian, Vice-Principal Mrs. Rita Kaprielian, Armenian
    teachers, and parents. The students were welcomed by the Prelate, and St.
    Mary's Church pastors Reverend Fathers Vazken Atmajian and Gomidas
    Torossian, who also teach at the school.
    Upon their arrival the students were led to the "St. Dertad and St.
    Ashkhen" Chapel for a prayer service, after which they received Holy
    Communion from the Prelate.
    After breakfast, the students assembled at the "Dikran and Zarouhie
    Der Ghazarian" Hall where they performed a cultural program consisting of
    recitations and a musical piece on the piano, after which they presented the
    Prelate with a gift.
    The students conveyed their thanks to the Prelate for welcoming them
    to the Prelacy on this and previous occasions, and for his care and guidance
    throughout the years.
    Mr. Madenlian expressed his joy and pride at the achievements of the
    graduating class, and his hope that they maintain their ties and bonds to
    the school after graduation.
    In his address to the students, administrators, and parents, the
    Prelate exalted the role of the Armenian School and the values it imparts to
    our students. He blessed the administrators and parents for their role in
    the educating of our youth and expressed his hope to the students that the
    values and principals they have learned thus far will remain a part of them
    always. The visit concluded with the Prelate presenting the students with
    mementos and a group photo.


    PRELATE WELCOMES BOARD MEMBERS OF THE
    ARMENIAN WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA

    On Wednesday, May 19th, 2010, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian,
    Prelate, welcomed the new board of the Armenian Writers Association of
    California (AWAOC).
    The delegation consisted of AWAOC President Mr. Krish Tavitian,
    Vice-President Mr. Boghos Kupelian, and members Mr. Kevork Kristinian, Ms.
    Fira Akyan, and Mr. Nerses Mesropyan Palayan.
    After the introduction of the members, a discussion ensued on the
    challenges facing Armenian writers in general and the AWAOC in specific, and
    presented a number of possible projects, such as the publication of a
    literary newspaper. They also spoke of the role of writers in the
    mainstream, stressing the importance of more interaction and stronger
    connections between writers and the general public and especially youth.
    In conclusion the Prelate congratulated the new board members,
    commended the work of the AWAOC, and expressed the readiness of the Prelacy
    to lend its support to alleviating the concerns voiced by the organization
    and to provide the hall to hold their events.
