Azerbaijan has gained the fourth award in the European youth
championship in weightlifting held in Spain's Valencia.
According to News.Az, Nailkhan Nabiyev brought a silver award to the
Azerbaijani team Friday. He lifted 327 kg in the result of two
exercises in the weight category below 85 kg. This is the fourth award
taken by our team in the current European championship. Earlier Nijat
Rahimov (69 kg) won gold, while Magomed Seyidov (50 kg) and Firuddin
Guliyev (62 kg) gained silver.
A scandal broke amid the European championship. Azerbaijan accused the
arbiters for not counting Firudin Guliyev's attempt in the result of
which he lost the first place to the Armenian weightlifter.
The Azerbaijani sportsman left the pedestal of honor amid the awarding
ceremony during the Armenian anthem as a sign of protest.
