"Referring to the issue of the regional security one should note that
there are countries contributing to the security, its development
and strengthening; however, there are countries who destroy and put
the establishment of the security system in jeopardy," said Deputy
Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharian at the conference on Caucasus,
taking place in Yerevan.
He told journalists that the conference aims at discussions on the
situation in the Caucasus to find solutions to prevent conflicts and
to contribute to dialogue.
Shavarsh Kocharian also said that he had recently returned from
Nagorno Karabakh, where the parliamentary elections were held. He said:
"Nagorno Karabakh take another step towards the civilized relations
and stability in our region."
The International Conference entitled "The Situation in Caucasus and
Prospects for Regional Security" is being held in Yerevan organised
by the Institute of the CIS states in assistance with its Armenian
Office. The event gathered together participants from Armenia, Russia,
Georgia, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Iran, Turkey, and Canada. Delegation
