"The elections in Nagorno Karabakh were held in a free, democratic
and exceptionally calm atmosphere, and fully corresponded to all EU
standards," Slovakian MP Frantisek Milosko told a press conference
in Yerevan today.
The Slovakian observer is surprised at the fact that European
structures do not recognize the elections in Nagorno Karabakh. "What
does Europe accept if not democracy?" he says.
Frantisek Milosko noted that he positively assesses the activity of the
OSCE Minsk Group, adding, however, that "it has reached a deadlock now
because it defends the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan on one hand
and the right of the people Kof Nagorno arabakh to self-determination
on the other hand."
The ex-Speaker of the Slovakian Parliament proposes an alternative
solution to the Karabakh issue, which he is going to submit to
European structures.
As Milosko said, Benelux historical version should be a key for peace
in the South Caucasus. This is a confederation with the Netherlands,
Belgium, and Luxemburg included.
"The EU may offer associate membership to Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh
and Azerbaijan in the upcoming future," Milosko said.
Thus, the EU will promote the rapid development of the three countries
and will prepare them as future candidates for EU membership.
