NAGORNYY KARABAKH MADE A REGULAR STEP TOWARDS CIVILIZED RELATIONS AND STABILITY IN SOUTH CAUCASUS REGION

ArmInfo. Speaking about the system of regional security, I should say,
there are the countries which promote this security, its establishment
and enhancing, but there are also the countries which threaten such
system formation, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan
said at the international conference 'Sotuation in the Caucasus and
prospects of regional security' held in Yerevan.
'The work of today's conference will be directed to discussion
of the situation in the Caucasus and searching for the decisions,
which will help escape clash. I have recently returned from Nagornyy
Karabakh where the parliamentary election were held, and I would
like to specially mention that just Nagornyy Karabakh made a regular
step towards the civilized relations and stability in our region',
- Kocharyan said.
International conference "Situation in the Caucasus and Prospects of
Regional Security" commenced in Yerevan on May 25. The event organizer
is the CIS Institute and the Armenian Office of the given institute.
The conference will touch upon such issues as the new geopolitical
reality in the Caucasus, the policy of the South Caucasus countries
Iran, Turkey, Russia and other super powers. The event will continue
for 3 years. Issues of regional security, stability, integration and
cooperation, the Armenian-Turkish relations and the Karabakh peace
process will be discussed as well.
Politicians and exerts from Russia, Armenia, Nagorny Karabakh, Georgia,
Abhkazia, South Ossetia, Iran, Turkey and Canada will participate
in the conference. The organizers were waiting for arrival of the
Azerbaijani delegation till the last moment before opening the
conference. However, the Azerbaijani delegates were reluctant to
refuse from arrival in Yerevan at the last moment.
