YIELDING TERRITORIES IN EXCHANGE FOR INDEPENDENCE THE ONLY RIGHT SOLUTION TO THE KARABAKH CONFLICT: RUSSIAN PARLIAMENTARIAN

ArmInfo. Russia, USA and European Union and, certainly, to some extent
Turkey and Iran should develop a common position on Nagorny Karabakh
and offer it to the parties to the conflict, First Vice Chairman of
Russian State Duma Committee for CIS, Konstantin Zatulin told media
in Yerevan on Tuesday.
"I think that yielding part of the territories currently controlled
by the Nagorny Karabakh Defense Army in exchange for independence
is the only right decision. I think that it is clear to everyone
who analyses the arguments "for" and "against" in the light of
the fact that even the smallest nation deserves the right to self-
determination," he said.
The parliamentarian believes that the agreement on Nagorny Karabakh
is actually on the table and it remains for the two parties to display
political will to achieve a mutually acceptable decision.
