Tert.am
15:13 31.05.10
Sardarapat movement held on May 30 its first conference. Titled The
Imperative of the Armenian Statehood it was attended by political
figures, intellectuals, artists and other youth representatives.
During the discussions the participants highlighted the importance
of creating a "special leading group expected to be based on the
principles of social justice and Armenian-centered approaches in the
process of recovering the Armenian statehood."
It is also expected to create a sound civic society which will become
the necessary basis for the unified and powerful Armenia, according
to a statement issued by the movement.
The participant also mentioned that it is impossible to hold
fair elections given the existence of the "ruling anti-state and
anti-national regime." Therefore, an alternative parliament is
necessary to create that will ensure the cooperation between the
people and powers loyal to Armenian-centered views.
The "alternative parliament" is also expected to ensure a "broader
plurality" and be a basis for the "recovery of political environment,
new ideas and approaches as a guideline for the development of the
Armenian statehood.
