The president of Russian Liberal-Democratic Party Vladimir
Zhirinovski talked to "Vesti.az" making his observations and
personal view points over the perspectives of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict resolution. During the interview, Mr. Zhirinovski supported
his pro-Armenian disposition saying:
"Maybe my opinion appeared when I was flying to Baghdad, I remember,
Tehran didn't allow to use its air territory, Baku refused to accept
our plane, and Yerevan accepted us. Or maybe, Armenian Ambassador to
Russia invites me to the Embassy to attend different events, while
Azerbaijani Ambassador has never invited me."
Referring to the conflict, Zhirinovski said: "The problem of
Nagorno-Karabakh is a difficult one and reminds me Kosovo. Serbia
condemns Kosovo's liberation, but the EU standards support national
minorities." According to him if Abkhazia and South Ossetia were in
Europe, they would be recognized by them, but now the situation is
linked with Russia.
"Turkey supports Azerbaijan, and Russia, it turned out, supports the
Armenian disposition, There surely exist such a conflict," Russian
deputy said.
The politician didn't exclude Russian forces support to Armenia in
case of resuming of the military activities. "It depends on Armenian
authorities, if they ask for an aid, they will get it," Russian
politician said.
