No incident was registered during the recurrent OSCE monitoring at the
Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line. The monitoring was conducted near
Berkaber village instead of Kirants as it had been agreed upon before.
According to Senior Officer of the General Staff of the Armed Forces
of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant Colonel Samvel Asatryan,
issues related to the exchange of fire at the line of contact were
discussed during the 10-minute monitoring. It's worth mentioning that
the ceasefire was violated 37 times in that part of the contact line
over the past month.
Representative of the General Staff refrained from commenting on the
exchange of prisoners in order not to harm the process.
Deputy Marzpet of Tavush Vahe Vardanyan presented the situation in
nearby villages and pointed to the existing threats. He said the shots
in Chinar and Berkaber villages are mainly targeted at civilians.
According to the Deputy Marzpe, this causes great harm to agricultural
works.
The Armenian side suggested the Field Assistants of the Personal
representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office to organize a meeting
with the Azerbaijani side to negotiate on the situation and come to
an agreement.
