YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS: Genocide is being committed against
Kurdish people in Turkey, Chairman of the Kurdish National Council
of Armenia Knyaz Hasanov told Armenpress, stressing that for that
very reason the Kurdish people have stood up - to fight for defending
their freedom and right to having a respectable life.
"Twenty million Kurds living today in Turkey are deprived of all their
rights, including that of being called a nation; the Kurdish language
and culture are banned, one can be prosecuted just for belonging to
our nation," Mr. Hasanov stressed, adding that the Turkish authorities
want to take imitative steps for allegedly solving the Kurdish issue
in a peaceful way. "But we again see that Turks attack at the freedom
fighters of the Kurdistan Worker's Party, again unleash war and commit
genocide," he said.
According to Mr. Hasanov, thousands of Kurdish people are kept in
prison and their only guilt is participation in rallies for their
freedom. "They are sentenced to 10 years of prison," the Chairman of
the Kurdish National Council of Armenia said, stressing that there
is not such fascism in any other country of the world.
