On November 25, the Armenian delegation headed by Parliament Speaker
Hovik Abrahamyan left for Deir ez Zor.
The Armenian delegates were met by the governor of Deir ez Zor Husein
Arnus and other top officials.
The Armenian parliamentarians laid a wreath at the memorial to the
Armenian Genocide victims. They also visited the Genocide museum
and left notes in the memory book. The delegation members also had
a meeting with the representatives of the local Armenian community.
Hovik Abrahamyan noted that the delegation could not leave Syria
without visiting Deir ez Zor
"Each year on April 24, Armenians spread all over the world gather
at the memorials to the Armenian Genocide victims. Deir ez Zor has
become a holy place for all Armenians to pay daily visits. We are
here to pay tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide killed
by the Ottoman Empire and to confirm our determination to restore
historical justice," he said.
The delegation returned to Armenia on November 26.
