Turkish president addresses Swiss parliament; outlines foreign policy
Bern, 25 November 2010: The Turkish president, who is currently paying
a visit to Switzerland, has said that Turkey preserved its strong will
and determination for the implementation of protocols aiming at
normalization of relations with Armenia.
Addressing the Swiss parliament on Thursday [25 November], Turkish
President Abdullah Gul made comments on Turkey's foreign policy, as
well as its relations with Armenia.
During his speech, Gul pointed out to the protocols aiming at
launching of diplomatic ties and improvement of bilateral relations
between Turkey and Armenia which were signed in Zurich last year
thanks to Switzerland's facilitatory efforts.
"Such kind of issues cannot be solved very easily, however, we
preserve our strong will and determination for the implementation of
these protocols, moreover, we keep displaying efforts for the
establishment of a lasting and comprehensive peace in the Caucasus
region," Gul said.
"For the successful completion of the process, we also expect Armenian
President Mr Serzh Sargsian to continue to display the leadership he
has shown so far with the same courage," the Turkish also noted.
