YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS: The Day of Librarians is marked on
October 7. Deputy Director of the National Library of Armenia Rafik
Ghazaryan told Armenpress that as of January 1 of the running year,
983 libraries work in the republic, 11 of which - province, 135 -
urban, 802 - rural, 35 - junior. As of January 1, 2009, 1031 libraries
worked in the republic. As of January 1, 2010, the number of library
employees made 1964 against the 2088 of the same period of 2009.
Mr. Ghazaryan noted that the National Library annually publishes the
book of "Armenia's Libraries", where the above mentioned information,
the analyses, attendances, the number of readers, etc are summed up.
Its regular issue is in preparation process.
The book fund of public nature has made 11 million 981 thousand
150 against the 12 million 68 thousand of 2008. In 2009 5 million
796 thousand 251 people attended Armenian libraries, and in 2008 -
6 million 235 thousand 55 people.
