VREZH KASUNI: 'REANIMANAI' FESTIVAL HAS REGISTERED SERIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS: "ReAnimania" international animation
film festival, conducted September 9-13 in Armenia, has already
registered serious achievements, Vrezh Kasuni, director of the
festival, said today at a meeting with journalists, summing up the
results of this year's festival. According to him, many encouraging
letters have been received from abroad. Mr. Kasuni said that they
have already started getting prepared for the regular festival,
and can say that the 10% of the works are competed.
Sona Harutyunyan, head of the Contemporary Art Department of the
Armenian Culture Ministry, said that there is already a consolidated
animation festival, which is able to admit guests. According to her,
it is important to raise interest in animation sphere; the ministry
will extend certain sum of money from budget 2011 for organization
of the festival, which will contribute to its consolidation even more.
Mrs. Harutyunyan handed the Ministry's Golden Medal to artist
of feature and animated films Stepan Andranikyan for outstanding
contribution to animation sphere.
Director of the Armenian National Cinema Center Gevorg Gevorgyan
highly assessed conduction of the festival in Armenia. He announced
the results of the debut contest conducted within the framework of the
festival, the winner of which is Mary Kyureghyan with the scenario of
the animation film of "The Sun and the Obscurant". She will get money
award to turn the scenario into a film; "The Sun and the Obscurant"
will be screened by 2011.
The three winners of "Hunting of Talents" contest held within
the festival will have an opportunity to take master classes with
well-known specialists of animation sphere with a term of 1-3 years.
Summing up the results of the festival, Art Director of the film
festival Lusine Kajasaryan noted that 35 countries have participated,
most of the films have been presented from France. Awards have been
handed in 4 contest programs, a number of premiers have been held.
