Ukrainian magazine 'Profile' published an interview with the
Armenian Prime Minister, Tigran Sarkisian. He stated that 1400
Russian-funded enterprises are operating in Armenia and stressed
that Russian investment in energy sector, infrastructure as well
as information technology are essential for the country. One of
the largest Russian investment projects in Armenia is the joint
stock company ArmRusGasprom, in which Russia's Gasprom has an 80%
stake. It provides gas to 94% of the country's population. Russian
capital is also invested in the management of Armenia's aging nuclear
power station, as well as in the telecommunications market. Sarkisian
emphasised the great importance of Russian investment for his country
and also expressed hope that Ukraine will also invest in Armenia.
