"Vor v zakone" Armen Kazarian, nicknamed Pzo, the head of the arrested
Armenian gang is the citizen of U.S., Armenian Police informed NEWS.am.
The police representative said that Kazarian was not condemned when he
lived in Armenia. The U.S. side has not appealed to the Armenian police
for information concerning Pzo neither before nor after his arrest.
As NEWS.am reported earlier, Armenian criminals and their associates
used phantom health care clinics and other means to try to cheat
Medicare out of $163 million, the largest fraud by one criminal
enterprise in the program's history. The operation was under the
protection of an Armenian crime boss Armen Kazaryan. He was also
among the first arrestees in Los Algeles.
Earlier, Armenian Foreign Ministry expressed regret over Armenian
citizens' involvement in the crimes in the U.S. health care system.
"We may only express regret that Armenian citizens have been involved
in medical fraud crimes, according to the published information,"
Press Secretary of Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan.
