REPRESENTATIVES OF ARMENIAN MASS MEDIA OF DIASPORA ATTACH IMPORTANCE TO FORMATION OF JOINT INFORMATION FIELD

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 18, ARMENPRESS: The representatives of the Diaspora
Armenian mass media attach high importance to formation of a joint
information field and to mutual cooperation with the mass media of
Armenia. Hakob Asatryan, editor of ~SOrer~T (Days) magazine issued
in Prague, said today at a press conference that on the way of
implementation of the above-mentioned goal the all-Armenian forum of
journalists in Artsakh will be of great significance, in which 200
correspondents of Armenian descent from 26 countries partook.
~SThe forum will contribute to creation of interrelation of the
Diaspora-Armenia information field,~T he said. Mr. Asatryan said that
for proper confrontation of today~Rs information war cooperation
between Armenian journalists of abroad and a joint approach are
necessary.
~SIf at least the part of the programs discussed by us in the forum
is brought to life, a big progress will be registered on our way
of giving solution to issues,~T he said. Hakob Asatryan attached
importance to the circumstance that the forum has been conducted in
the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.
~SWe had an opportunity to communicate with local authorities, people,
to get acquainted with the issues exciting them, which we will try
to raise in front of international community and contribute to their
solution,~T the editor of ~SOrer~T said.
Referring to the newspaper he heads, Mr. Asatryan said that their
main goal is presentation of political, cultural and sport important
events taking place in Armenia and Europe, as well as preservation
of the tie between the Diaspora Armenians and the Armenian language.
Abo Poghikyan, editor of ~SAsparez~T daily issued in US State of
California, is of opinion that it is necessary to set up a body,
which will coordinate the joint activity of the Armenian and Diaspora
mass media, by which the current issues Armenia faces and the steps
promoting their solution will be raised.
Abo Poghikyan said that ~SAsparez~T is published in 4 thousand
examples, and presents the all-Armenian events taking place in
Diaspora, as well as the Armenian political, economic and cultural
news.
