GOOD INDEXES REGISTERED IN ARMENIA RELATED TO PRODUCTION AND STORAGE OF GRAPES

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, ARMENPRESS: Quite good indexes have been
registered related to production and storage of grapes. Armenian
Agriculture Minister Gerasim Alaverdyan said today at a press
conference followed the session of the Armenian government that 132
ton of grapes have already been stored. The minister also said that
500 thousand ton of potato is expected this year against the 550
thousand of the last year.
"This year there were quite unfavorable weather conditions, rains,
drought, because of which decline has been registered in some branches
of agriculture," Mr. Alaverdyan said. According to him, the analysis
shows that this year they have got 30 thousand ton of fruit, and last
year - 161 thousand ton. There is certain decline in plant growing.
Gerasim Alaverdyan said that the storage of vegetables is running
almost with the same tempo as last year. Twenty-five thousand 900
ton of vegetables have been stored this year.
