ARF Bureau's Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office Director Kiro Manoyan
has said that the main goal of the presidential meeting in Astrakhan
was to relieve tensions, which emerged as result of a regular wave
of Azerbaijan's threats and incidents at the line of contact.
Russian President's initiative was successful enough, according to him.
However, Mr. Manoyan noted that people should not anchor hopes on
the forthcoming OSCE summit in Astana.
Asked why the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to meet if
they can't achieve any agreement, he said, "The more the Presidents
meet the less frequent are the incidents at the frontline. Anyway,
it's better just to meet than not to meet at all."
