In a briefing today Armenia's Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan denounced
reports by the Azerbaijani mass media about Karabakhi armed forces
having organized an attempted diversion attack on the Azerbaijani
military posts as "disinformation."
"It is just the contrary. As usual they [the Azeri] spread false
information," said Mr Ohanyan, adding that from time to time
the Azerbaijani armed forces plan [and implement] reconnaissance
operations, "showing their true face."
Earlier the Defense Ministry of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh
issued a release saying that the Azerbaijani forces attempted a
diversion attack at 6:30 am on August 31 in the vicinities of Upper
Chailu village in the north-eastern region of Nagorno Karabakh.
The release also informed of losses from both sides. From Armenian
side, Rudik Manaseryan, a temporary serviceman of Karabakh's Defense
Army born in 1991, was reported wounded. While the Azerbaijani was
reported as having two injuries.
Later Azerbaijani news agency APA reported of two deaths from the
Azerbaijani side.
But spokesperson for the Defense Army of Nagorno Karabakh Senor
Hasratyan told Tert.am that 7 Azerbaijani servicemen were killed and
wounded due to this incident.
