The decision to put the cross on the dome of Holy Cross Church has
already been made by the Government, according to Kaan Soyak, the
Co-Chairman of Turkish-Armenian Business Development Council (TABDC).
"My understanding, there are some delays due to either domestic
political reasons which involved whole Turkey in the last several
months and also technical reasons, because the weight of the cross is
about 300 kilograms. But there is no question of putting or not putting
the cross. This has already been decided by the Government. It is
going to be put very soon," the TABDC Co-Chairman told PanARMENIAN.Net
"All of Turkey has been focused on referendum in the last several
months and Turkey is passing through a very sensitive period of
her history as one can imagine. Please also bear in mind that the
opposition parties of Turkey are openly against any step towards
normalization of the relations between Armenia and Turkey.
Armenia is perhaps not participating in the liturgy "physically"
for some reasons unknown to me but I am very sure that their hearts
will be there in Akthamar during the ceremony," Kaan Soyak said.
